What Is Different

Manufactured homes typically use more composite wood products (particleboard, MDF) in cabinetry, shelving, and structural components, which increases formaldehyde off-gassing. The building envelope is lighter, meaning temperature swings are wider and moisture management is harder. Crawlspace-based foundations allow ground moisture to influence the living space. And HVAC systems are often smaller and less sophisticated than in site-built homes, with lower filtration capacity.

Addressable, Not Permanent

These are real factors but they are not permanent sentences. Ventilation improvements, crawlspace moisture management, filtration upgrades, and targeted source reduction can meaningfully improve air quality in manufactured homes. The assessment identifies which factors are most impactful for your specific unit.
